About
Robert K. Lee, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. He also completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Chicago. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern University, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, which is the top rehabilitation program in the country. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Lee studied neuroplasticity at the Neurological Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Lee has been involved in numerous publications, presentations, teaching and media events surrounding topics related to stroke recovery, both locally and nationally. Dr. Lee served as the Medical Director of Stroke and Neurological Services at Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago, Ill. He has worked with the American Heart Association and the Chicago Public Schools to educate the community about stroke risk factors and prevention. In 2013, Dr. Lee relocated to Austin, Texas and is currently the Medical Director of Stroke & Neurological Recovery at St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital.
His clinical and research interests focus on enhancing neuroplasticity and recovery after neurological injuries by utilizing sustainable healthcare to maximize functional ability. He specializes in the recovery of hemiparesis, ambulation, dysphagia, aphasia, arm/hand weakness and coordination. He also treats spasticity, post stroke depression, shoulder pain, pseudobulbar affective disorder and neurogenic bladder.
