Juan M. Latorre, MD, received his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Chicago and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine/University of Texas Alliance in Houston, Texas where he also completed fellowship training in spinal cord injury.

Dr. Latorre pursued further fellowship training in advanced spinal cord injury at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center-Department of Veteran Affairs in Dallas, Texas. Since 2004, he has held two voluntary faculty positions: Clinical Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Latorre served as the Director of the Spinal Cord Injury Program at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research - Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas and is currently the Medical Director for Spinal Cord Injury and Amputee Programs at St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital and Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. David's Medical Center.
